Mama (2013)

A couple adopt their two niece's after they have disappeared for 5 year's, only to be discovered fending for themselves in a remote cabin servery traumatised and displaying animal like tendencies, these though are far from the only problems they bring with them, as a ghost like presence seems to be "protecting" them....

A good old fashioned ghost story, "Mama" has plenty of spooky, eerie moments with some very creepy visuals.The movie manages to avoid too many of the usual 'things that go bump in the night' cliches, Jessica Chastain is excellent as the "Step Mother" Annabel (you won't believe its the same actress in "Zero Dark Thirty"!)

The movie does play better when the ghost is hiding in the shadows, we get the all out CGI confrontation in the finale, but this doesn't detract from what a fine rather creepy horror movie "Mama" turns out to be.
