The Impossible (2012)

Based on the true story of a Spanish family (here portrayed as English) experience when a devastating  Tsunami hit the coast of Sumatra, Thailand on 26th December 2004.
Ewan McGregor and Naiomi Watts are superb as the Parents,facing the ultimate horror, separated from the family in a Country devastated by one of the Worlds worst natural disasters.

The actual disaster is handled sensitively as it can, no OTT special fx, the film is almost in a documentary style, similar to Paul Greengrass excellent "United 93", low key, but never afraid to show the horrors unfolding.

Highly recommended.
